Yes slackers Luis and I have finally done a show. We recapped the World Cup… Talked a little about the transfer season as well as just about everything else… We have even gone one better and added a UStream video. For some reason it didn’t capture the cool intro so you will need to listen to the mp3 for that but we will get it figured out.

Champions League Quickie Update

So it’s been a while since any updates or shows around here, I guess between work and having our favorite teams getting beat down this season, it’s been a little tough staying motivated, but here’s a quickie update just to let everyone know we’re still watching…
Man, what can I say, Real Madrid look like amateurs in the big matches, and I hear Man.U isn’t doing much better. Although I can’t speak for Manchester’s woes, Madrid’s problems come from poor decision making at the top. (Oh, and Raul is still the best in those situations.. always a threat.)
ok, enough crying.. what’s going on NOW with the CL.. well, as one aficionado boldly stated today.. “Bayern Munich are going to win the Champions League.” I was able to catch the second half of the match against Lyon, and sure enough it was all Bayern. Robben looked as sharp as ever and they looked ready for the final. This should have been the Madrid / Man.U matchup, but as the next best thing, it only shows that Man.U is better than R.Madrid in the CL. (damnit I was rooting for Lyon).
So right now I’m watching a replay of first Inter / Barca match, and even with the opening gol from Barca and some attacking opportunities, Inter have a huge home crowd advantage and growing confidence by the minute. It’s no wonder the final score, but I would have expected better from Barca. Of course, the big story is Ibra vs Eto’o, and so far the Eto’o Milan has been the better show, and this run in the CL has kind of restored some of the Italian image. Oh and I’ve got to mention Sneijder rocking it as well… another player to escape Madrid’s downward spiral.
MIerda. Well, I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s game, Barca is still a champion team and will be expected to come out strong at home.. and even though they’re not welcome in the Bernabeau, I’ll be secretly rooting for them to win it again.
Last note.. Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid Thursday should be hot hot hot… there’s a chance for both of these teams to be the first champion of the new Europa League. We’ll be watching.. Ciao

US to win the WC right?

USA is going to win the World Cup! That’s right drink up the Red, White and Blue kool-aid cause we are going to take this tournament by storm!

After all let’s look at the facts

we did win the Concacaf region and qualify for the World Cup yet again.
Heck Portugal, France, Ukraine and Russia haven’t even completed what we already have.
We beat the African Cup of Nation winners Egypt, we beat Spain the #1 team (at that time) in the World, we SHOULD have beaten Brazil the current #1 team.
We finally found a striker to play along side of Jozy Altidore in Charlie Davis.
We have more players over seas than ever before

I can go on and on with reasons that we will win the World Cup but the bottom line is we won’t and that’s OK. The best thing that the US could have done is come out and drink the kool-aid and then play quality opponents. Playing Slovakia in one of the most boring matches that I can remember should make everyone realize that plain and simple we just aren’t that good. Sure missing Donovan (playing with LA), Davis (injury), Holden (playing with Hou) doesn’t help matters but the US should be deep enough to carry on with missing these kinds of players v the #33 ranked team in the world. Sure they qualified for the WC and were playing in a “hostile” environment that included a whooping 7,000 fans there.

USA needs the underdog role. Going into the final match at the Confed cup vs Egypt everyone assumed that Bradley was coaching his last game. When counted out the US team suprises which is why in 98 we were horrible yet 02 we were great… in 06 terrible again… So if we go with that underdog role who knows what will happen in 2010.. at least maybe make it out of the group!

Now let’s see what excuses Bradley uses vs the #27 team in the nation in Denmark so we all think everything is just fine yet again.
