Heartbreak LA for Colorado

For a game that started out very sloppy for both teams sure ended with some craziness.
The Rapids seemed to have all three points in the bag but then gave LA “a gift” of a goal in what has to be 2 points dropped instead of 1 pt earned.

The Colorado Rapids dominated the match after LA showed no ambition from the beginning and showed there youthful side with Colin Clark’s superb bending strike in the 60th minute and then again on the other side in defensive mistakes in giving LA a chance with Landon Donovan’s 82nd strike. “Our biggest problem is our mistakes” said Colorado Rapids manager Gary Evans.

“Our strikers have good pace but lack overall experience and composure, we can’t kill teams off” stated Evans.

Also the craziness came in with a horrible challenge on Omar Cummings just outside the box made the ref give a straight Red card to Todd Dunivant and somehow was over ruled by the linesmen and then wasn’t even awarded a free kick. “The first mistake for the ref was not consulting his linesmen right away. Then the players advised the ref to seek a second opinion when it wasn’t asked for and then a Red was rescinded which were firsts that I have seen and the league must address”

There were good things to come from this match as the Rapids dominated play and Colin Clarke is showing class but they will need it as they battle Real Salt Lake next week who just thumped New England 6-0. “6 Goals or 1 Goal still equal 3 points so I’m not concerned we just have to show up and play”
